Sadly, most of us are stuck inside for now. Millions of people are practicing social distancing to stop the spread of the coronavirus. As important as these efforts are, it’s getting harder and harder to stay indoors. That’s why I’ve taken it upon myself to tackle some projects around the house. Follow my lead and read my advice on how to freshen up your bedroom. If you’re like me, you’ve probably spent your days in your bedroom anyway. The space might as well look beautiful while you’re in there.
Tidy Up
Anyone wondering how to freshen up their bedroom should start by organizing their bedroom. You’ll never truly relax in your room if everything’s messy. So, buy a few baskets where you can tuck your knick-knacks away. Baskets are excellent because they’ll help you keep things clean and they’re incredibly stylish. Organize your closets and drawers, too. Purchase multi-purpose hangers, so you don’t have to spend 30 minutes picking out an outfit in the morning like I used to do. Also, learn from my mistakes and neatly fold everything you put in your drawers. Y’all, I can’t tell you how frustrated I used to get searching for my favorite t-shirt in a messy drawer.
Let in the Light
I never realized how important it was to have natural light in the house until I was stuck inside all day. When the curtains are closed, I get super anxious and depressed about not being able to go outside. Letting more natural light into my bedroom has made me feel so much better. My mood has increased dramatically and I’ve been so much more productive. Before, when I kept the curtains closed, I used to just lay in bed all day and watch Netflix. Now, I love reading in bed, and I’ve taken up a new hobby—knitting. Increased natural light has completely transformed the space and it’s awesome to see the outdoors while I’m stuck in my house.
Paint
Yes, I’ve used my time in quarantine as a chance to start new hobbies. However, there are only so many new things I can learn. That’s why I decided to give my room a fresh coat of paint one day while I was bored. I researched colors online and opted for a contactless delivery from my local hardware store. Then, I covered all my furniture and got to work. I couldn’t believe how amazing my bedroom looked when I finished. All of the markings that accumulated on the walls over the years were suddenly gone. Now my room looks brand-new! I posted so many pics on my social media pages—my friends were obsessed.
