Most industry experts would agree that we’ll likely be moving away from the utter decadence that was interior design in 2017 and toning it down a little bit, however, it’s safe to say that 2018 is going to bring along some big changes while preserving the boldness of expression we’ve enjoyed in recent months. Here are some of the most popular interior design predictions for 2018, including a couple of easy pointers on incorporating them into your current state of home décor.
Brass everything
Brass is becoming increasingly popular as of late and, by the looks of things, it’s fairly close to overtaking the omnipresent home décor phenomenon that is rose gold. The affection for mixing different metal finishes will continue to dominate all the different areas of interior design, ranging from the bathroom, furniture, and kitchen fixtures to accessories, cabinet hardware, and lighting situations. Brass, bronze, copper, gold, black nickel and satin brass not only work well together, but they are also interchangeable, which makes mixing metals that much easier and more fun. Just make sure you pick a single dominant metal capable of carrying the room and rely on others merely as accents.
Daring color displays
Neutral tones will become all but forgotten in 2018, as trends slowly but surely shift towards a bolder, more dynamic display of color. People are growing tired of the neutral and oftentimes boring pallets, which means that fiery reds, vibrant blues, and strong greens will take the center stage. When it comes to pushing the boundaries or color and pattern, this trend becomes more of an incentive to step out of our collective comfort zone and embrace the bold, instead of it being an ordinary prediction.
This, of course, doesn’t mean that you should completely give up on using neutral shades in your design, but rather that we’ll start seeing them move towards the background. While you can go all out and get the latest and greatest in neutral statement furniture, another excellent way to spread out neutral shades is to look for accessories such as throw pillows or invest some your hard-earned money into some of the more interesting and eye-catching modern rugs.

Old art and vintage accessories are often utilized as the ideal for storytelling. It doesn’t matter whether you’re staying at a fancy hotel or you’re relaxing at home, blending found items with some art and old books creates an experience that is far more personal and unique. These days, you can easily find one of a kind items in some of the most mind-boggling places, ranging from Craigslist and eBay to antique shops and social media platforms such as Facebook or Instagram. Just have in mind that these vintage accessories are best used as potential focus points or special additions to further complement the rest of the design.

I love that you suggested using accessories to spread out the theme you have such as neutral shades, so we can choose pillows in that color. I will follow your advice, but I still plan on hiring an interior designer since I do not trust myself with creativity.
