Remember the post More Than One Way to Wear A Maxi how I showed you how you can take a maxi dress and make it into a skirt. Well, today I am going to show you how to make a skirt and make it into a dress. So you see there is more than one way to wear a skirt. My daughters have been doing this for years. In fact, this was on my list of topics to blog about but before I sat down to actually write this post I walked into my daughter’s room and guess what she had on a maxi skirt that she made into a dress. It is really great way to stretch those clothing dollars. Now mind you not all skirts will work, obviously, a mini skirt would not work unless you like your hinny hanging out. But that is a story for another blog.
So I am going to show you how to make a skirt into a dress without any sewing or cutting. First, take an inventory of your skirts. Look for skirts that have an elastic waistband and that fall below your knees or are longer. Once you have done that try on the skirts as a dress. It is very easy to do. Just put the skirt on and pull it up past your waist to just below your shoulders, right over your breasts.
This will let you see if the skirts will work or not. Some may not. After you have decided which skirts will work and which won’t the fun part starts. That is when you look around for things to accessorize your new made dress with. You can choose to wear it flowing or you can add a belt or scarf to this cute new number you have created.
With this skirt, I chose to just use a simple brown leather belt. I have been dying to try this look out, I think this would be great after surgery outfit.
So you see you don’t have to spend a lot of money to have a versatile wardrobe, you just need to use your imagination and look at items in a different way.
