I love when I can find more than one way to wear clothes. This past weekend we went to South Carolina to pick up our middle daughter. She had spent a week with friends. We were meeting them halfway between our house and theirs at South of the Border. Riding in my car is not my favorite thing to do. Sitting still makes the partial tear in my rotator cuff ache and hurt more. I wanted to be comfortable on our drive there, so I looked through my closet to see what I could wear that was comfortable.
I found a maxi dress that I love but it was strapless and my strapless bra is not one of the most comfortable things to wear so that got me thinking. Why can’t I turn this maxi dress into a maxi skirt? It has elastic tubing up top so I just rolled it down to make it the waist band.
I didn’t roll the dress done that far but it kept sliding off the dummy. I then went through my closet and found a white peasant shirt to wear over my new skirt.
Not only was this shirt comfortable but it was light weight as well. Just the perfect thing to wear on a hot summer day. I paired this with a multi striped blue bag that I found the other day while I was cleaning out my closet. I went with no jewelry just my wedding rings. Sometimes less is best.
So you see there is always more than one way to wear your clothes. Not only will you save on your clothing budget but it will also allow you a more versatile wardrobe. I was able to make this maxi dress into a maxi skirt without any sewing, I just folded down the elastic bodice. So now I can wear it as a dress or a skirt- it just depends on what I am in the mood to wear that day. So tell me have you ever done this to your maxi dress?
I love the way you styled it! I love the straw bag with that. I’ll bet it was comfy, too!
It was beyond comfy. And the straw bag I found when I was cleaning my closet LOL
What a super cute outfit idea 🙂 Love the tote bag, it rounds it out.
I never knew you could roll one of those down. That’s neat!
I have not bought a Maxi dress yet. I am only 5’2 and so Maxi dresses are a bit too long for my height. But, I do love seeing them on other women. They look so cute and comfy!
I like wearing Maxi dresses with jean jackets and shirts as well. Such a versatile piece of clothing.
Oh wow that is awesome, that would be great for traveling too taking up less space in luggage. I so need to get one of these.
I don’t own a maxi dress, but I love how versatile they are. I am thinking maybe I should get one.
