How to Stay Awake in Class after an All-Nighter


There are a lot of perks when it comes to attending a top IT school in Manila. One of which is being sure that you get the best possible kind of education in information technology.

However, there are also some downsides in going into one. There will be times when you have to sacrifice a few things in order to achieve your goals and graduate. Some of these things you need to sacrifice may involve your time to socialize with your friends and loved ones, and there are those times you would have to pull an all-nighter just to finish a project or study for an exam. Here are some tips you need to take note of if you want to stay awake after an all-nighter.


Go Forth and Eat!

Sleeping provides you enough energy to face another day, which is why it is important for people to get enough rest every night. Removing sleep from your daily cycle will leave you feeling tired and drained. What you can do to alleviate this problem, is to make sure you are eating the right food.

Food much like sleep gives you energy; however eating too many carbohydrates when you just pulled an all-nighter is never a good idea because it will make you feel sleepier. Instead of eating them, try replacing them with food that are rich in protein.


Keep Hydrated

One of the reasons why you feel tired after pulling an all-nighter is because you are dehydrated, so make sure you always carry a bottle of water with you for the rest of the day. Drink it slowly and when you can try splashing some water on your face as well to relax your face and eyes, particularly if you have been spending a high amount of time in front of a computer.

Moreover, be sure that you stay in a cool place instead of a hot and stuffy one; this will help you avoid feeling sleepy and tired all the time.


 Be Active!

The key to staying awake after foregoing your beauty sleep the night before is making sure you stay alert, and one of the things that you can do is by staying active.

Isaac Newton’s first law of motion said that “a body at rest will remain at rest unless an outside force acts on it, and a body of motion at a constant velocity will remain in motion…unless acted upon by an outside force.” This means that you have to keep moving so that you can go through the entire day. It would be harder for you to stay awake if you decide to remain motionless.


Coffee is Your Friend

You may have heard about this already but drinking coffee is indeed one of the best solutions you can take whenever you need to stay awake after an all-nighter. After all, caffeine has a very stimulating effect to the body.

It certainly would not hurt to consume them in small amounts throughout the day but be sure to moderate how you take them and remember not to add too much sugar on your drink or you may still end up feeling tired and sleepy.

Follow these tips wisely and you’d be sure to get through the whole day after pulling an all-nighter. Be sure to sleep afterwards, remember you cannot go on like this forever!
