In addition to their social media presence, celebrate the day with the  Museum Shop! Check out their mini versions of nostalgic toys and much more, all at 25 percent off Friday and Saturday in-store and Friday through Sunday online, in honor of Grandparents Day. Share those memories and re-create all the fun! If shopping online, the promo code is TOYBOOM! (all caps; include the !”).

“This is a great day to honor our wonderful grandparents and great-grandparents,” said Director Ken Howard. The museum wants to let these special men and women know how much we appreciate their wisdom and advice obtained from decades of experiences and, of course, their love for their families.”

Founded by Marian Lucille Herndon McQuade—who was mother to 15, grandmother to 43, and great-grandmother to 10—Grandparents Day was envisioned to be a day of family time, small gatherings, and reunions. At the family level, Grandparents Day provides a chance to note the importance of grandparents, the vital roles they play in families, and their tasks as examples for future generations.
