Things You Didn’t Learn in Driver’s Ed from North Carolina Lifestyle Blogger Champagne Style Bare Budget

Driver’s ed isn’t fun. You have to pay attention to every little detail to pass the test. Believe it or not, teachers miss some stuff in these courses. It seems like I was in driver’s ed a hundred years ago, y’all. Now, it hasn’t been that long, but some of my girlfriends have children starting to drive. It’s wild! I wanted to write this article for those kiddos and their anxious parents; here are some things you didn’t learn in driver’s ed that may come in handy.

Common Car Issues

No one wants to think about getting into a car accident, especially parents of new drivers. Still, the old saying rings true; it’s better to be safe than sorry. Y’all can avoid accidents by learning about common car issues. For example, everyone should watch out for the different types of tire tread wear. After all, how horrible would it be if your tire popped on the highway? It’s also helpful to learn about the different exhaust smoke colors, too, so y’all can point out when something goes wrong.

The Beauty of Roadside Assistance

Speaking of accidents, kids should know about roadside assistance. Parents must step foot into the 21st century, since these tools may help save someone’s life. They might be more of a substantial investment, but they’re worth it in the end. Adults, make sure y’all teach your children how to use these devices, so they know what to do if something happens.

Driving While Sleep-Deprived

Driver’s ed teachers constantly talk about the dangers of drinking and driving, but most don’t mention how harmful it is to drive while tired. Parents, warn your kids about these perils and talk about:

  • The fact that driving while tired mimics driving while intoxicated
  • How they can cause accidents, harming someone else if they fall asleep behind the wheel
  • The importance of rest stops on the road, where they can get some shut-eye if needed

These are some crucial things you didn’t learn in driver’s ed. Hopefully, teens and parents can benefit from this article because the two have more in common than one may think. They’re both probably nervous about driving! These tips will help ease both parties’ anxieties.
