How To Increase the Natural Light in Your Bedroom
Do y’all prefer artificial light or natural light in your home? Little to no natural sunlight can actually increase the likelihood of depression. Increasing the natural light in your bedroom can boost your mood while opening the space for a brighter and cozier feel. I made it my mission this year to make this change, and you should, too, with my advice!
Move Furniture Away From Windows
When I do my makeup in the morning at my vanity, I love to have as much natural light as possible. At first, I thought putting my vanity directly in front of my bedroom window was the easiest solution. This only blocked the sunlight from reaching further into my bedroom. Moving the vanity to another wall so that the light floods the space and points at it is best.
Use Light-Colored Paint
What color are the walls in your room? It’s a known fact that darker colors fade faster under constant sunlight. So, not only will this paint fade faster, but the darker colors will absorb the sunlight instead of reflecting it. If y’all want a bright and inviting bedroom, stick with lighter walls. This way, the natural sunlight can reflect and bounce off the walls, filling the room with more light.
Strategically Place Mirrors
I love using the mirror method because it brings more natural light to your bedroom and is an elegant décor piece! There are plenty of ways to use mirrored accents, but you should place this décor on the opposite wall to your window when you want to reflect more light. The light from your window will hit the mirror and brighten the room, making the space appear larger.
Install Skylights
Y’all might be hesitant about this suggestion because it’s an investment. However, it’s worthwhile because it can increase the natural light in your bedroom while also adding value to your home. After installing a skylight in your bedroom, the space will feel larger with tons of natural sunlight. Plus, you get a small opening in the ceiling to gaze at the moon while lying in bed at night. Who wouldn’t love that?
I encourage y’all to find ways to bring more natural light into your home. My space has never felt more relaxing and tranquil, and I only made a few changes to the room. Let me know what y’all think after using my advice. Did it boost your mood or make your bedroom feel more lively?
