5 Outfit Ideas That Incorporate a Sweater

Do you have a few sweaters that you love, but you never know how to style? I know I do! A jumper can look informal, lazy, or awkward if not styled correctly. However, that same sweater can be the lynchpin in an iconic look if paired with the right ensemble. Check out these five outfit ideas that incorporate a sweater that I use all season long to stay warm.

Over a Dress With a Belt

I’m stubborn. I still want to wear my favorite dresses in the winter, but the ones with exposed shoulders don’t keep me warm enough. Luckily, the sweater-over-the-dress look is here. This is a simple method I frequently use to turn my summer dresses into winter outfits. I style my sweater over a dress with an accent belt to round out the look. The belt will help break up the outfit, giving the ensemble dimension.

Pairing It With a T-Shirt and Tennis Skirt

If y’all want to channel your inner Cher Horowitz, wearing a sweater with a tennis skirt is a fun, sporty look. Many people associate this look with the summer. However, you can make it winter-ready by pairing it with a thermal legging or thicker hosiery between 50-150 denier.

Leather Pants With a Plaid Blazer

Speaking of Cher, another part of her iconic look was her yellow plaid blazer. When making a statement, I like to wear a sweater with a blazer to upgrade my look while also making it more formal. I can wear this look at work or out for dinner. Also, I love the confidence I get from wearing a blazer. I’ll typically wear my black leather pants with this outfit to round out the look. Overall, this is one of my more daring daily looks that play with different textures in an interesting way.

Polo Sweater With Thrifted Pants

The polo sweater has made a roaring comeback thanks to thrifting. Now that it formally has its hold on the fashion world, this boyish look has become a staple in many women’s closets. You can complete the style with corduroy or pleated pants to round out the unique look. This is an outfit I like to wear on more casual days of running errands when I still want to look cute.

Plain Sweater, Jeans, and a Showstopping Shoe

If you have a pair of shoes that you want to highlight an outfit, y’all will want to pair it with clothes that complete it without drawing attention. When wearing my favorite kicks, I’ll typically wear a neutrally colored sweater and jeans to let the shoes do all the talking.

Hopefully, one of my five outfit ideas that incorporate a sweater has inspired your next favorite look!
