Y’all, are you dreaming of summer just like I am? I’m sick of gray skies and low temperatures. I want sunshine and green grass. I suppose one good thing about winter is that I’m getting more projects done around the house. For example, I’m really trying to spruce up my outdoor space before the seasons change. Follow these essential tips for designing an inviting outdoor space if you want to have an exciting spring, like me.
Choose Comfortable Furniture
I don’t know about y’all, but one of my favorite things about my backyard is all the lounging space it has. I absolutely love having a glass of wine out there as the sun sets. Plus, it’s got lots of room for tanning chairs. If you want guests to enjoy your outdoor space as much as you do, you need to get comfortable furniture. Purchase something that makes folks want to kick up their feet. Also, consider getting lounging chairs for those who want to tan. Soon enough, your yard will be the most popular place on the block.
Provide Shade and/or Heat
There’s nothing worse than boiling in the sun while chilling in your outdoor space. I always get sweaty, and my makeup runs everywhere! Then, I had a eureka moment, y’all. I decided to add more shaded areas to my outdoor space. For example, I got this huge patio umbrella that covers my table when people want to sit. A bigger project I undertook was building a screened-in porch. This was a game-changer, y’all. Now, I can be outside, no matter the temperature.
Pro Tip: Consider getting a fire pit for the winter months so you can bundle up around it outside.
Don’t Forget the Details
The final tip for designing an inviting outdoor space is to not skimp on the details. Folks will genuinely feel more welcome if you put time and effort into making the area look nice. So throw some pillows on your couches and chairs that people can snuggle up with. Hang some twinkling lights from the trees to create a star-like effect. Finally, get some stylish patio accessories, like citronella candles, that neighbors will notice as soon as they enter the yard.
I know; we’re barely halfway through winter! But a girl can dream, can’t she? I want to spend the rest of the winter months designing the most excellent outdoor space. I’m hoping to have lots of visitors this summer. Next up is figuring out the menu!
