Best Things to See, Eat and Drink in New York
New York City, the Capital of the World, the Big Apple, the City that Never Sleeps! Well, call it whatever you want, but NYC is a real phenomenon. You don’t ever have to leave this giant and still lead a perfectly happy life filled with excitement, adventure, and pleasures—that’s why so many tourists rush there to get a glimpse of the big life. Sure, everyone knows about the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, and the Empire State Building, but if you really want to feel the New York vibe, here’s what to see, eat and drink.
Wander through Central Park
This is one of the classic New York attractions, but it’s really not a tourist trap. Most New Yorkers love to wander this 843-acre marvel on the weekend and have a chill day outdoors. However, don’t just spend your entire day standing in line for Shakespeare in the Park or walking the Strawberry Fields. Instead, just get lost! Pick a random trail, explore the park, discover little, secluded gazebos, hidden waterfalls and climb the rock formation next to the water. If you’re feeling very Home Alone-ish, you can talk to pigeon-feeding outcasts and hear amazing life stories no tourist guide can tell you!
Stuff yourself full of candy in Coney Island
Another great attraction New Yorkers don’t hate is Coney Island. Get a few tickets for the rides (the Cyclone is a true grandfather of the rollercoasters that turned 90 just last year) and munch on some tacos, tostadas, and pizza. However, make sure to leave some space for tasty treats like Italian gelato, grab a candy apple or marshmallow bites! Once your stomach settles, take a relaxing ride on the Wonder Wheel and enjoy the view!
Eat some good Italian food
If you watched any movie that stars New York, you know that the city is full of Italian-Americans and small family restaurants that serve Italian food that’s so good, you won’t have better even in Italy! However, if you want to try something really authentic, go to Little Italy and just enjoy. There, you’ll find everything from amazing pizza pies to massive servings of chicken Parm and other Italian delicacies. Plus, you’ll be able to see all sorts of people having fun and enjoying amazing food in a traditional environment. Don’t forget to order some red wine while you’re there, even if you’re a die-hard beer fan!
Try one of the legendary New York cocktails
Since NYC is the city that never sleeps, it’s only logical that it has a rich and diverse nightlife that usually brings equally rich and diverse drinks with it. A trade of mixology in NYC is considered a true art with many masters mixing exotic cocktails just for you all over the city (you can even book them for your private event and wow your guests). Getting a nice cocktail is a treat to all the senses and a perfect opportunity to add some glamour to your Instagram feed!
Walk the Brooklyn Bridge
Even though it’s often crowded and swarming with tourists, you can always enjoy a good view from the Brooklyn Bridge. This massive suspension bridge is one of the most iconic sights of New York and it offers plenty of amazing photo opportunities of the Manhattan skyline! If you want to have a first-seat experience of the bridge, wake up early in the morning, have a chill walk across the bridge and read the plaques telling its history along the way.
Chill at the High Lane
One of the most pleasant weekend activities in NYC is having a relaxing stroll down the High Lane and grabbing a quick bite at Chelsea Market. The High Lane is a very easy-going park that offers you a little glimpse of New Jersey across the Hudson River and an amazing view of the NYC architecture. At the end of the High Lane lays Chelsea Market with great food opportunities. Make sure to try Korean-style ramen or grab some fresh sushi!
Here it is, an authentic New York experience that will not only take you to some of the best tourist attractions but also allow you to feel the heartbeat of the city and its unique vibe!
