If y’all have people coming over soon or want to spruce the place up for yourself, I’ve got you covered. Find the best ways to welcome guests into your house with my tips on how to make your home cozier and more inviting.
Reduce Obstacles
Shoes in the entryway or a coffee table that blocks the path to the couch are reasons your guests may feel a little uncomfortable without even knowing it. I always make sure guests don’t have to scooch my furniture aside to get comfortable. Plan your space with mobility in mind.
Curate the Smell
Using candles or essential oils, make your home give off the scent that you like the best. My tried-and-true home scents are vanilla, lavender, and fresh-baked cookies (y’all can also actually bake cookies, which comes with the added benefit of getting to eat them).
Stock up on Soft Things
Pillows and blankets instantly increase the coziness factor of any home. Y’all can take this further, though, with fluffy carpets and smooth furniture so that every surface is soft to the touch and nothing feels rigid. I don’t think there’s anything more depressing than a stiff couch, so plush it up!
Bring in Nature
Houseplants or an indoor garden give a space a farmhouse feel. Adding floral elements can contribute to your perfect scent as well! I find that bringing living elements into my space adds vibrancy and comfort, especially when I can incorporate some of those plants into any meals I prepare (herb gardens are often simple to cultivate).
Don’t Forget the Exterior
The outside of your home gives off the first impression, so don’t neglect it. Landscaping touch-ups such as lining your walkway with flowers or stones allow visitors to instantly see the sort of charming home you’ve created. There are many other ways to make your exterior more welcoming, so get creative!
Now that y’all know how to make your home cozier and more inviting, grab some plush and some candles and make your place snuggly.
