Spring 2022 Fashion Trends To Look For Now

Hey, y’all, I don’t know about you, but from where I sit, it seems like winter is setting in, and these shorter, darker days make me think of baking cookies and sitting on my butt, all covered up with baggy sweats and big sweaters. But then I remember that my butt is going to have to reappear when the season changes and the days get warmer again. So between batches of baked goods, I’m going to settle in with some catalogs and magazines and do a little research on spring 2022 fashion trends to look for now.

Color

It looks like if you don’t have several things in various shades of yellow, you will be marked as hopelessly old-fashioned this spring. Unlikely combinations of bright colors like pairing red, purple, and teal in one outfit are also on the horizon.

Fringe, Tie Dye, and Psychedelic Patterns

Back to high school, we go! Dig way back in your closet, and you might find a fringed leather jacket or a tie-dyed t-shirt from days gone by. Spring 2022 trends update these looks with fringed skirts and dresses and t-shirts that look less tie-dyed than sort of water-colored.

Remember crochet? Well, new designs using this kind of weaving showed up on the fashion runways this fall, setting a spring 2022 fashion trend to look for now.

Cut-Outs, Bare Midriffs, Shorts, and Mini-Skirts

Shut the door and lock it—your daughters will insist on trying to leave the house half-dressed in half the clothing they should be wearing. While cut-out dresses, crop tops, and minis won’t find a home in a middle-aged mom’s closet (they shouldn’t, anyway, unless she’s lost her mind), they’ll be all over the racks in retail establishments aimed at the teen and 20s set. Start practicing your mom’s speech and be prepared for the eye rolls. They’re comin’.

Y’all know that I’m not the type to spend a lot of money on a new wardrobe every time the fashion world decides there’s a new trend to follow. That’s why I keep several classic pieces, including timeless dresses, wide-legged trousers (hey, it turns out these are in for 2022!), and a durable trench coat in my closet. While the fashion world turns, I’ll always have these to turn to, and the knowledge that I did right by my savings account to help me hold my un-trendy head up high. Have fun dreaming of spring!
