Y’all know I love me some delicious homemade cookies, so today, I’m going to help you make the best cookies for you and your family. They’re going to love your cookies so much that they’ll want them for dinner every day! Here are some tasty tips for making the best homemade cookies!
Correct Measuring
When starting out, you want to make sure you put everything you’re going to use on your counter so that you can easily grab what you need when you need it. I pull out my recipe and gather my measuring cups, pans, and ingredients before I start baking my masterpiece.
As you start to measure out your flour and liquid, try to measure as evenly and accurately as you can. Here’s what I like to do: once I pour the ingredient into my measuring cup, I use a butter knife to level it off. That way, I know I’m using only what the recipe says.
Y’all, if you don’t want dry, patchy cookies, use this method, and I promise you you’ll end up with soft, chewy cookies!
Keeping an Eye on Them
Once you’ve gathered your ingredients, made the dough, and put your cookies in the oven at the correct temperature, don’t just turn on Netflix and forget all about them! Make sure you put a timer on and check them about 5–10 minutes before the timer ends to see how they’re looking. The last thing you want is burnt cookies!
Preservation
If you want your yummy cookies to last you longer than a day (unless you gobble them up fresh out of the oven, which we’ve all done before—don’t lie), then what you want to do is keep them fresh for as long as possible. That means allowing them to cool completely before you store them, placing parchment paper in between each layer of cookies, and storing them in a cool, dry place. By doing this, your cookies can last anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks.
You can put many “secret” ingredients into your cookies to give them extra flavor, but I like to get down to the nitty-gritty and give you the foundation of what really makes the best homemade cookies! Now that you know how to make tasty cookies, feel free to start trying new flavors and expand your cookie palate!
