Skin Care: Splurge If You Can

This is the second installment of Beauty on a Budget Splurge or Save. Yesterday I introduced to you to the amazing Catherine Sutton. Today continue on the beauty on a budget journey with her skincare tips.

Yes, you only get one face, but bottom line, you also have to eat. I used to use Arbonne Skin Care, and that is honestly the best my skin has ever looked. After J gets out of daycare, I may invest in this again, but right now I simply can’t afford it.

I have been using and had good results with Mary Kay Timewise skin care. This can also be pricey, but I have a relative who sells it and gives me a discount.

Recently in an effort to save even more, and after reading rave reviews on Make Up Alley, I have been using Cetaphil cleanser and moisturizer. In my opinion, this is one of the best kept secrets in drugstore skincare. Let’s be honest, the packaging is not pretty, so we’re not tempted to try it. For my sensitive, dry skin it is amazing.

Another skin tip: you can make a luxurious body scrub with just olive oil and sugar!

Shaving: Splurge (with coupons)

Most of the time, I find that store brands are just as good as name brands. This IS NOT true for razors! I usually use the Schick Hydro Silk razor, but the cartridges are so expensive! I recently bought the Equate (Wal-Mart) knock-off brand of disposables, and they are horrible! Nothing like the Hydro Silk for my sensitive skin! On the plus side, there are ALWAYS coupons out there for razors and cartridges. So combine those with sales and you can enjoy the more expensive products while saving money.

Thanks for reading! And thanks again to Melissa for allowing me to write a guest post! Check back tomorrow to find out her tips on haircare.
