Tips for Making Your Family Room Feel Cozy for Winter
If you love the holidays as much as I do, then you can’t wait to decorate your home for winter! Over the years, I’ve found that some decorations and minimal additions make all the difference in getting that warm, fuzzy feeling everyone loves during the holidays. Learn some tips for making your family room feel cozy for winter so that you can enjoy every ounce of the holiday season!
Incorporate Your Favorite Scents
In the fall, you think of pumpkin spice scents, but what scents come to mind when you think of winter? I love a candle that smells of sweet cinnamon or warm vanilla in the wintertime. Others love savory sugar cookies, sweet cranberries, or the spicy scent of peppermint.
Burn a candle, turn on a candle warmer with wax melts, or incorporate a fragrance diffuser. A pleasant holiday smell will make you feel jolly each time you step into your family room, y’all.
Get a Cozy Area Rug
To bring your family room together, switch your current rug for a different one. You’ll need a durable area rug material to accommodate family members and children walking all over the space during the holidays. But it’s definitely possible to find a reliable and cozy rug.
Find something that complements the current design and color scheme. If you like something more subtle, choose a maroon rug with a simple pattern. Another choice is something bright red and green with holiday patterns.
Know the Power of Lighting
Did you know that the color of a room affects your mood? The holidays remind me of bright and warm colors, and they probably do for you too. As you incorporate those merry patterns throughout your living room, you can also think about changing up the lighting.
Place garlands and warm string lights in various areas. Find a little lantern with a faux candle to put in the corner of the room. When you turn off the lights to watch TV, the little lights will bring a calming joy.
Bring In Comfy Winter Pillows
Y’all, a family room isn’t complete without a few seasonal pillows! Or perhaps more than just a few pillows. What about five or six?
You know the texture and comfort of the pillows you like the best. Remember to choose something not only because it’s an adorable decoration piece but also because it’s comfortable. You can choose red and green plaid pillows, something white or blue with a little snowflake, or a pillow with your favorite jolly phrase.
Have Warm and Snuggly Blankets
You may love snuggling up on the couch with your favorite winter scents rushing past your nose while sipping your favorite drink of choice. If so, you also need a warm, cozy blanket to top things off.
Just like when choosing a pillow, consider the characteristics you love the most in a cozy blanket. It can be soft or a bit hardier and heavy or light. Either way, I recommend you get something to complement your living room’s style. Red and green candy cane patterns, puppies holding presents, and snowy winter scenes are all examples of gorgeous blanket patterns.
Perhaps you’ll find a giant, fuzzy blanket to hold together each member of the family! That’s one way to bring everyone together for the holidays.
The holiday decoration possibilities are endless! Hopefully, my tips for making your family room feel cozy for winter will help bring you holiday cheer this season!
