An outdoor living area is more than just another shared space of your home. On your porch or patio, y’all can take a relaxed approach to getting in touch with nature. And while your outdoor space is a clear daytime winner, you should enjoy it at night, too.
Make the most of your patio or porch at any hour; these are some of my favorite ways to make your outdoor space cozy at night.
1. Stay Warm
Even in summertime, it can get chilly at night. Soft fabrics in your outdoor décor will help keep y’all comfortable and warm.
Add throw pillows for quick, affordable support that helps people relax. Keep throw blankets in your house that are set aside specifically for outdoor seating. Storing them in the house will keep them clean, and reserving them for this purpose will mean always having what you need at the ready.
2. Illuminate the Dark
At night, it’s easy for lightbulbs to look too stark. Opt for soft lighting that works with the environment rather than battling against it. String lights with Edison bulbs or in the holiday style look great overhead.
For a power-free option, burn outdoor candles; y’all can get simple candles in various sizes if you prefer a flickering light. Or, for added benefits, choose a citronella and lemongrass candle. Many outdoor candles made with botanical oils help ward off mosquitoes and release a pleasing scent, all with a warm glow.
3. Play Music
One more way to make your outdoor space cozy at night is to fill the night air with music. Relaxed tunes at a low volume help create a cozy environment. Reduce your stress and anxiety with music you love.
Most genres of music have options that fit the bill. For example, y’all could choose slow classical music, blues, jazz, pop, or even meditation melodies. The important thing is to choose pieces that you enjoy hearing.
Create a charming setting with warm fabrics, soft light, and great music. Whether you’re hosting an event or sitting on your patio or porch on your own, use these tips to help y’all enjoy your outdoor space at night.
